SAFETY IS NOT ONLY A RESPONSIBILITY, IT’S AN ATTITUDE

At Kor Alta, safety is part of everything we do. From our office to construction site we have built a Safe and Healthy Workplace. Our staff are provided with the resources, tools, support, and education to assess hazards and implement safety control measures to ensure a safe and compliant workspace. Our management team leads by example through practicing,  educating, and mentoring our staff on our safety policies. We are continually assessing, improving, and evaluating Kor Alta’s health and safety process to ensure we meet or exceed the industry standard for safety. Kor Alta is a proud member of the MERIT Contractors Association in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Our Corporate Safety Officer is a HSE Practitioner, member of CDN Safety Engineering (CSSE), Physician Assistant, member of Canadian Centre for Occupational Health (CCOHS), certified Inspector & Investigator, and a member of the Occupational Injury Service (OIS). He is available to every project site  to consult and advise on workplace safety concerns. Corporate Safety liaises with workers, superintendents, subcontractors, project management, industry, government, educators, on training and compliance.

Expectations for safety are clearly communicated on site. Site safety culture is addressed daily, weekly, and monthly for the duration of a project. All subcontractors, workers, visitors to site, must go through a site orientation that reviews emergency procedures, hazards, controls, personal protection equipment and safety expectations, as needed on a daily basis. Weekly site inspections and joint health & safety meetings are held on site, and are reviewed by project management and corporate safety. Monthly site safety visits are conducted by Kor Alta ownership and corporate safety to offer support, inspect, and verify safety procedures are being maintained.

Kor Alta’s Health and Safety Program is audited and COR Certified. Our Health and Safety program goes through several external accreditation programs, ISNet, Comply Works, Can Qual and Contractor Check, and we are members of the OHS Partnerships In Injury In Reduction, (PIR). Kor Alta’s Safety team includes National Construction Safety Officers’ and we contract NCSO’s on site that require “Hands On Safety Supervision”.
